About Us

“The Vision of Faith Baptist Church is to become a 21st century expression of a Biblical NT church by making God famous in all we do, encouraging one another to love God and people through the Gospel of Jesus Christ  and to take seriously the study of God’s Word so to live it out in our lives.”

Our Mission

We believe the mission of the church can be summed up in two words: “Make disciples.” This command is found in Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” So, while good works like helping the poor and fighting social injustice are great and commendable things, they are not the true mission of the church as it is described in the Bible; they all fall under the bigger mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ.

In our immediate context of Faith Baptist Church, we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ by teaching sound Biblical doctrine, forming strong discipling relationships within the church, and making Christ’s name “famous” both in the city of Wilmington and abroad.

We are for the cause of Wilmington, Ohio, and believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest news that the people of Wilmington can encounter. We don’t spread this news of Jesus out of a sense of duty or self-righteousness, but rather out of love for the people of Wilmington. As Christ loved us and saved us from eternal judgment, we believe that he can save the people of our city in the same way.

Doctrine

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God that was given to reveal Himself to mankind. It is completely true and trustworthy without any hint of error.

  • We believe that God is one triune being revealed in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of those having unique individual attributes.

  • Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God born of the virgin Mary. He died a substitutionary death for the atonement of the sins of mankind.

  • Mankind is the unique creation of God in God’s own image. Man sinned by his own free choice against God and cannot of his own power be reconciled to God. However, since all people are made in the image of God, all people are worthy of appropriate dignity and respect.

  • Salvation includes the Biblical process of regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. A person can only receive salvation in Jesus Christ through the repentance of sins and the belief in his/her heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

  • The New Testament church consists of a local, autonomous body of believers in Jesus Christ who have been baptized by immersion. Its Biblical offices are that of pastor and deacon. The office of pastor is limited to men per Scriptural witness, but all men and women in the church are accountable to Christ as Lord.

  • We hold to the two ordinances of Scripture: Believer’s baptism by immersion and the symbolic but spirit-filled practice of the Lord’s Supper

Community

Our time together as the “body of Christ” (Romans 12:5) is so much more meaningful and intentional than just “hanging out.” We believe in a regenerate church membership, meaning that we are unified in our belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he raised from the dead to be our Savior for our sins against God (John 3:16-18, 5:24; Romans 10:9).

By joining us, you don’t join a mere social club. You are joining a group of people unified on an eternal mission.
